From Resume to Resource – LinkedIn Summary Converts Prospects to Calls

Resume to Resource

The summary section in your LinkedIn profile may be the most valuable online real estate you own. If your headline is interesting and relevant enough to get your audience to read your summary, you have an amazing opportunity to captivate and get them to want to talk with you. And, by the way, if you are in B2B sales, your #1 goal should be to get the phone call from the right decision makers, influencers and strategic alliances (other vendors that sell to the same clients and are not competitors).

So, the question is, how do you take a profile section that typically starts with “I am”, “My experience is” or “I have” and transform it to content that will convert your readers to phone calls? It begins with a change in mind set – that your summary is not about you…its about how you can help them!

 FROM RESUME TO RESOURCE

Here are the 3 elements that go into a prospect engaging profile that will convert your targeted audience into qualified phone calls:

  1. Begin with the notion that whether your reader talks with you or not, they take away insights and ideas around your industry that positions you as the subject matter expert. In other words, this isn’t about pitching your stuff, telling them how great you are or how long you have been doing it, but offering enough value so they know a call with you will be well worth their time.
  2. Once you have their piqued their interest, it is time to briefly touch on how you help your clients. This is a taste of your solutions and how you deliver them. Keep this brief but impactful.
  3. Now you have earned the right to ask... Every good business developer needs to close for the next step and in your LinkedIn Profile, this is done through calls-to-action. In most B2B sales profiles, asking for the phone call can be the most effective CTA (http://scheduleacallwithbrynne.com), but other viable CTAs are DOWNLOAD an eBook, Sign-up for a course,JOIN a LinkedIn Group or a simple invitation – CLICK HERE to connect on LinkedIn.

By positioning your LinkedIn Summary as a resource rather than a resume, you bring immediate value to your target audience, build an online reputation as the subject matter expert and begin to create a lead generating machine for years to come.
